Update, October 2010
by Bro. Jacob Tollangao

History

In January, 2010, Pastor Jed B. Raquintan assigned Bro. Jacob Tollangao in Pakil mission to help Brother Roland Niar who was working there since 2008. In the same month, bro. Roland Niar was informed that one of his disciples in the prison jail Jojo Ejidia, who promised to help him start a work in their place when he gets out was delivered out of prison. He then visited Jojo in the last week of January 2010. In the following week bro. Jacob accompanied bro. Roland in visiting Jojo. They started a Bible Study in Jojo’s house with eight attendees. Later Jojo introduced the workers to his cousin Romel Villanueva, and by God’s goodness the workers found favor. They were allowed to stay there every Saturday night. With the help of Jojo, the missionaries conducted Bible studies for adults and children during Saturdays. When bro. Roland Niar was relieved from the work, Pastor Jed with his wife Ma’am Eden visited the area. Then the Pastor appointed Bro. Jacob Tollangao to continue the mission work.

CBMS Mission Trip

On April 2010, when the Mission trip in Kalinga was cancelled, Pastor Jed, being mission-minded, led six CBMS students to Casa Real, Pakil, Laguna. They conducted two evangelistic services and Bible study for the children. Thank God, about six people accepted the Lord as their Savior during the evangelistic services. That program strengthened the mission work there. Since then, the Bible study is regularly done at 5-6:30PM.

Helpers

By God’s grace, Romel and Marina Villanueva continue to receive Bro. Jacob in their house. The couple is hospitable, allowing their place to be used for Bible club and Bible Study.

Children’s ministry

Bro. Jacob has two regular venues for Saturday Bible club with 12 faithful and 14 non-regular students. Other students stopped coming while some saved juniors cannot attend and follow the Lord because of persecution from their parents who prohibited them. On the other hand, there are parents who push their children to attend the Bible club. The Bible study in some homes, like in Bliss, was stopped due to lack of time. Most of the students are professing Christians and some of them are ready to follow the Lord in water baptism.

Bible Study and Service

The regular Saturday Bible study in the Villanueva residence continues. As of now there are eight youth attendees and three adults. There are other attendees but they do not attend regularly. By God’s grace, aside from hearing God’s word and praying, they worship God by singing songs from Baptist tagalog hymnbook. At least four youth are ready for water baptism.

Soul winning and Visitation

Brother Jacob continues to seek the lost people of Bgy. Casa Real during his stay on Saturday morning and evening. He visits those who are not available during Bible study time but who open their house for God’s Word.

Bgy. Casa Real has 900 voters. The preacher has not yet reached 10% with the Gospel. People are engrossed in alcoholic drinking and, sometimes, violence. The cults like Jehovah’s Witnesses are actively working there. In honestly analyzing the mission field, you always agree to the Lord’s conclusion in Matthew 9:38), “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” May God bless the work and send more Biblical laborers for His glory. Amen.
