The mission work of Cornerstone Baptist Church (CBC) in the province of Batangas was started out of the desire and initial efforts of an ordinary laywoman to reach her lost loved ones with the gospel. Tess Clemente didn’t want her family and relatives to die in the lake of fire. So during the summer vacation of the year 2002 she began to gather her young nephews, nieces, and neighbors in her mother’s house each time she came and visited them. She gathered these youngsters to teach them what Jesus have done and what we should do in order to be saved from the awful penalty of our sins. The Lord blessed her efforts for the children faithfully listened to their aunt and the adults became open concerning studying the Bible.

Sis. Tess perhaps deemed herself under-qualified to teach the word of God to her adult relatives. So she approached Bro. Roy Raquintan and asked him if he could visit her family in Tanauan City and conduct a Bible study. Bro. Roy back then was working in a town not far from Tanauan City for his civil engineering company. Having the same mind of reaching people for Christ he accepted the invitation. So on May 2002 he started to come once a week to Tanauan City. He conducted an evening Bible study for Tess’ lost loved ones. The Lord blessed his efforts for many came and heard the true gospel and some of them repented from their sins and believed in the Savior. Not long after that, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Quezon City formally accepted this ministry in Tanauan City as one of her mission outreaches.

After almost one year Bro. Roy was assigned by his company to work in another province. Thus he can no longer continue going to Batangas. CBC responded to the need that arose by sending several men and women to visit the people and teach them the Word of God. After the morning service at CBC, Quezon City men like Bro. Jess Letargo, Bro. Boyet Francisco, and Bro. Bal Mustera travelled to Tanauan City and spent their Sunday afternoons visiting and teaching the people. Later on they were aided by women like Sis. Bing Mustera, Sis. Leah Valzado, and Sis. Wendy Quising in teaching the children. The Lord blessed their efforts for they established a good testimony before the people and many heard and accepted God’s wonderful offer of salvation.

After several months Bro. Jess and the other men were assigned to another place of missionary work. Sis. Bing and the other ladies however were allowed to continue their ministry in Tanauan City. Before the year 2003 ended, Bro. Leonardo L. Salgado, Jr. was assigned to help the ladies in reaching the adults. Sis. Ruth Ramacula was also added to the missionary team. On March 2004 Bro. Nards married Sis. Ruth and they were formally assigned to be the missionary workers to Tanauan City. Since then they began to spend their whole Saturdays in the mission outreach doing house to house visitation. The other ladies continued to help the missionary couple in teaching the many kids that they have known.

After sometime Bro. Nards started to hold Sunday services in the mission outreach. At first they gathered and held the services at the Garcia residence. On April 2005 they rented the barangay hall of Barangay XI and moved their services there. On August 2006 they again transferred their services to the Atienza residence. Bro. Nards and his team visited and ministered regularly to a total number of 15 barangays. The Lord blessed their efforts for many adults and young people believed in Christ and were baptized.

On August 2006 Bro. Nards was assigned to fill the vacated leadership of the Dasmarinas, Cavite Mission. The mission outreach in Tanauan City was then entrusted to Bro. Florencio Ragsac, Jr.
