When the Lord starts a work, He will sustain it. The believer’s part is to trust and obey Him and use the available resources at hand no matter how insufficient they may seem to human eyes. God’s faithfulness is demonstrated in concrete terms if a believer is faithful.

Such a virtue was evident in the mission church in Dasmarinas, Cavite where a group of a few believers gathered in 1991. With a generous heart, Bro. Sam Quising shared the good news to his contacts until he came to Cornerstone Baptist Church, Quezon City. The Bible study then was led by Bro. Jed Raquintan, who visited the place every other Sunday. In 1994, seeing the need for a companion, he took Bro. Gani Requintina with him in sowing the Word of God to the hearts of a few but interested believers. At that time, they had no regular meeting place. The Bible study was held among the homes of the believers who were available for that day. There was a time that they also used the Day-care classroom and stage of Barangay San Manuel II. The help that they rendered in providing a meeting place showed the Christians’ growing love for the work. Even if only one family was faithful in making their home a place of service, it was deemed enough for the work to continue. This was the setting until Bro. Sam Quising offered his house as a regular meeting place, the same place where the present church building stands today.

It was in 1996, that Bro. Conrad Castillo took over while Bro. Gani stood by his side. Although the growth was not fast in terms of numbers, the believers remained persistent. They also received ministers with kind and supportive spirits. This attitude of the believers encouraged Bro. Gani when he had to assume the mission work alone in November 2000. At that time he and his wife Malou had regular jobs at Dasmarinas. Through the years of labors, Bro Gani could recall good things that give reasons for rejoicing. He had seen how the believers stood on God’s Word as they grew in discernment. Although the attendance was sometimes adversely affected by their work or livelihood, they were united in following his leadership. Their love for the work and the worker showed stability. This included the volunteers for the Sunday School teaching ministry. Open doors for evangelism could be traced to the hospital where sister Malou worked as a nurse. On weekends and after office hours on weekdays, Bro. Gani visited the patients to whom his wife had already introduced the gospel. Souls were saved and discipled. But death prevented some believers from following water baptism. There was at least one visitor every Sunday. The field had the least manpower and man-hours devoted to evangelistic work, but the survival and growth recompensed it. From eight believers there are now 15 baptized active members, and 20 Sunday School children.

In August 2006, Bro. Gani transferred the leadership to Ptr. Nards Salgado, who was previously, the missionary pastor at Tanauan, Batangas. His wife, the former Ruth Ramacula, was the first Sunday School teacher in the mission. They settled in Dasmarinas after their marriage in 2003. Ptr. Nards has his own plans and goals on how to advance the mission to a higher ground. Under his able leadership, the church indigenously started its building project in the summer of 2007 with hardly any outside support even from her mother church in Quezon City. Though still unfinished to date, it is a proof of the members' faithfulness to the work and to the Lord and a testimony of the Lord's graciousness to His people.

Should the members give their full support to his leadership and remain faithful, the coming years will prove fruitful. What is important is that they need to nurture the good things which the Lord requires from his servants.

Someone plants. Another man waters. But it is God who gives the increase.
