LITTLE SERVANTS OF CHRIST

UPDATE

A year ago God blessed the church with the new lot and building in Batasan Hills, QC. Compared to the people in Project 3, residents here are more responsive to God’s Word. New young disciples are gradually increasing and new opportunities to minister to the kids are evident.

Last summer, we had our Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) and over a hundred graduated. There were also new young people who helped during our classes. God provided workers and helpers to make this activity successful. At present, some of those who graduated from the DVBS are faithfully attending Sunday School.

New blood is added to the music ministry with the help of our pianist, Ruth Raquintan. She diligently teaches some juniors to play the violin during worship services. Their parents are also encouraging them to use their talents in the Lord’s service. This October, kids are also busy in practicing their pieces for their special number for the mission nights and for their participation in Sagradong Harana 3.

It’s really an encouragement to every Bible teacher to see kids growing in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some were already baptized and gradually, the Holy Spirit continuously convicts every SS kid to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. May God call more men and women to labor hard in teaching and discipling these little ones.

History

It was December, 2007, when our pastor assigned me to be the leader of the church’s children’s ministry. This was when we had our annual leaders’ camp. I didn’t really expect that I would be handling this ministry and I saw it as a great responsibility.

Leading the precious souls of these young fellows is not an easy job. It is just like raising your own kids in the way God wants them to be. With the help of Ma’am Eden, Pastor Jed’s wife, and the faithful Sunday school teachers, every work and project launched became possible. By God’s grace, LSC aims to mold these little children be the next missionaries and leaders of Cornerstone. We have launched some projects which will lead to achieve this primary goal.

We had our first kids’ camp in March, 2008, simultaneous with the summer church camp. Tedious as it was, but it was really a great blessing ministering to these kids. Every Sunday School teacher took part in this activity and indeed it was very stressful but rewarding. We had prepared lessons and activities that they had enjoyed doing. They also presented a special number on one of the services during the last day of the camp. I have seen in their faces as well as in their parents that they had enjoyed this first kids’ camp.

We also had our SS quarterly recognition. Each Sunday School teacher gives awards to her students. Most of the awardees are those who are faithful in attending SS, best in crafts, and highest in quizzes. Kids really look forward to this event and long to see their pictures in the bulletin board.

In our Mission’s month, the singles’ group and LSC had come up with the fund raising project. We gathered old items and sold them. The proceeds were given to the Mission Capital Fund. Involving them in this kind of project would teach them the importance of giving for the missions work. Praying for the missionaries is also our priority during kids’ prayer meeting every Wednesday.

Last November 28, the kids sung two Tagalog songs in “Sagradong Harana 2”. We see to it that children are involved in this activity so they would know the importance of preserving the church’s doctrinal belief on music. This is one way of sparing these kids from the worldly music and Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) which are very influential in the lives of young people.

By God’s leading and by His grace, may LSC programs help these young minds to be focused on serving the Lord even in the early years of their lives.
